Tuna Salad
Ingredients
- 1 can tuna low/no sodium
- 1 tsp mayo
- 1 tsp dijon mustard
- splash lemon or lime juice
- sea salt and pepper to taste
Optional
- chopped red onion
- chopped celery
- dried cranberries
Instructions
- Drain the liquid from the can of tuna. Add the rest of the ingredients and mash/mix until combined (besides the optional ones). Add the optional ingredients if using.
This recipe above is the base tuna recipe. I will either add this to a salad with whatever vegetables/greens I have on hand. I like arugula, tomato, cucumber, bell pepper, and banana peppers.
This base can be used on a sandwich as well. I like to make a tuna melt by adding cheese, buttering the bread and heating it on the stove as I would make a grilled cheese. I will usually pair this with homemade fries (made in the air fryer).
To add a more hearty carb to this meal, I will put it over a baked sweet potato, rice, or another grain like quinoa.
